AEON MALL (Cambodia) Logi Plus Co., Ltd. held a groundbreaking ceremony for its new logistics center in Sihanoukville. The operation of the Logistics Center is scheduled to start in the fiscal year 2023.
1. First institutional initiative in Cambodia
The logistics center will serve as a demonstration base for the free trade port concept being promoted by the Royal Government of the Kingdom of Cambodia with the technical cooperation of the Japanese government and JICA. As a demonstration base, we will provide international Vendor-managed inventory services using non-resident inventory and other services to solve the logistics issues of various companies. Through these efforts, we will contribute to the further development of the country by improving convenience for our customers and providing business opportunities and services to a wide variety of businesses, including our own.
2. A location that is expected to develop as a logistics base in the country with remarkable economic growth
The distribution center is located in the Sihanoukville Port Special Economic Zone, which has the largest cargo trading volume in the country and has good access to the container terminal to be constructed at the port (scheduled to be completed in 2025. It is scheduled to be completed in the desired section.
The port is the only “deep seaport ” in Cambodia, and in addition to the recent increase in cargo volume, it is attracting public attention as a “New Asian Hub potential” as it is seen as a ‘’New Destination’’ for each company in the region. Furthermore, an expressway connecting the capital Phnom Penh and the same area is scheduled to open in July of this year, which is expected to shorten the travel time by car from the current 6 hours to 2.5 hours, which is growing at an accelerated pace. The area is expected to become an important logistics hub in the country.
3. Environmentally friendly facilities
Solar power generation, wall greening, and LED lighting facilities will be installed. The logistics center will be constructed with low environmental impact by utilizing know-how cultivated through the mall business to date.
